A weekend in Jasper

After Lacombe we headed to my parents for a frenzied 24 hours as we packed up to go camping in Jasper with most of the family and also my Uncle Jack and Aunt Jo-anne.

Jasper has always been a special place for the Winkel’s as we used to come here every year or two either as a destination or on the way to BC.  We know the town, the attractions and enjoy seeing what has changed since last time.  This time was no different and we more or less knew exactly what we would do while we were here.

We hit the Athabasca Falls, Maligne Canyon and the Pool in town.

My Dad, Jack, Jo-anne and I went back to Portal Creek a favorite of Dad’s.  The weekend was a great time of catch up with many rounds of cards played, lots of smores consumed, miles of kid biking and uninterrupted family time which was awesome.  After tearing down the camp we had another uneventful drive back to Edmonton culminating in supper at Boston Pizza – both a kid and adult favorite.  Thanks Opa!!

The next few days at Winkelacres (my parents acreage) we cleaned up, did laundry and prepared to head back to Viatori.  When we finally got back to the boat everyone said they were glad to be home.
Leah left out one detail from the Lacombe trip:  Richard has continued his winning streak at the card game Canasta despite being the least sought after partner in Lacombe!  To my partner: Thanks for your support Leah.
