Honu

In the Bahamas we had a “pet” turtle, everyday a turtle would show up around 9:00 spend about an half and hour browsing the grass below us and then move on. Leah and I would usually be having coffee and we would hear the turtle come up for breathes, usually 3 at a time, every 20 minutes. Turtles seemed a little old hat until I went snorkeling with them. The Honu (Hawaiian for Turtle) are graceful in the water, aloof of you as you snorkel by them and seem completely content. Seeing them close up gave me a new appreciation for these miraculous creatures. Here’s a few pics from our encounters with them.
