For the last few years the Off Road Adventure Club (ORAC) has done an extreme Wahiba Challenge along the same route. Tone, Amy, John and I headed to the empty quarter to scout an alternate route. The drive was long, the wind howled most of the time and dunes were epic tall!

After the Wahiba Challenge I thought: “Mr. Money Mustache be damned… I’m buying a jeep.” I bought a Jeep right after Christmas holiday’s and did one crossing and the extreme Wahiba challenge in January.
When you come to Oman, people tell you to buy a jeep so you can do the Wahiba Challenge, but I didn’t. Instead I bought a Ford Focus expecting to hitch a ride with someone for the challenge while not really making an effort of joining a team. Thankfully a ride fell into my lap…
